Nataraja

Nataraja is Siva, in the form of the cosmic dancer. His dance represents creation, preservation, destruction, embodiment, and liberation. One foot crushes the Muyalaka (symbol of ignorance and worldliness). The foot raised up represents the superconcious state. The flames within which he dances represent the dance of nature.

The mantra for meditating on Nataraja is Om Namah Sivaya. Made in Rishikesh, India.

Lakshmi


Vishnu

Second born of the Hindu holy trinity, he is all-pervading, unlimited by time, space or substance. He is the protector or preserver of the Universe, maintaining the Cosmic Order.

Also known as Narayana, Vishnu embodies the qualities of mercy, goodness, and responsibility. He is the balance between creation and destruction. In his left hand he holds symbols of creation and in this right hand, symbols of destruction. He uses these to uphold righteousness.

The mantra for meditating on Vishnu is Om Namo Narayanaya.

Lakshmi

Goddess of Divine wealth (self-knowledge), beauty, light and splendor. She is the wife of Vishnu, and is a bountiful provider who brings good fortune and luck of a material and spiritual nature.

Lakshmi aids Vishnu in the preservation of the three worlds. She is seen as a beautiful lady standing on a lotus blossom with her arms open and giving. She is the mother who gives her children everything.

The mantra for meditating on Lakshmi is Om Sri Maha Lakshmyai Namah. The bija mantra is Klim.

He represents strength and fortitude. Ganesha has a human body and the head of an elephant. One day when his mother went to take a bath, he was left to watch the door. When his father, Siva was denied entry he cut off Ganesha's head. To pacify his wife, he replaced Ganesha's head with the first one he found, an elephant's.

The mantra for meditating on Ganesha is Om Sri Maha Ganapataye Namah. Made in India. Approximately 2 inches high.

Reclining Ganesha
This large polystone Ganesha is a lovely addition to your altar. His delightful pose as he reclines on his settee brings joy to our hearts!

This large statue is 7 inches long and 4 inches tall.

Ganesha is presented as a short fat man with a protuberant belly, four hands, the head of an elephant and one tusk. In one hand he holds a shell, in another a discus, in the third a club or goad and in the fourth a water-lily. He lost his tusk when Parasu-rama threw his axe at Ganesha, and Ganesha received it with all humility.

Goddess Kali

Often referred to as "Maha-Devi", Kali is the great goddess. She is a wife of Siva and daughter of Himavat (the Himalaya mountains). As the Shakti or female energy of Siva, she has two characters - one mild and one fierce. In this form she is encircled with snakes and holding a head, celebrating the victories over the Asuras, a general name for enemies of the gods.
