Ganesha is the remover of obstacles along your spiritual journey, and is addressed before any important undertaking. He is the son of Parvati and Siva, and the bestower of wisdom and success. He represents strength and fortitude. Ganesha has a human body and the head of an elephant. He has big ears which represent that he hears your prayers, and a small mouth meaning he does not talk too much or gossip.

The mantra for meditating on Ganesha is Om Sri Maha Ganapataye Namah.

"Om" is the eternal word; what was, what is, and what shall be. It is All. The curves of the sanskrit letter are representative of the three states of consciousness: the waking state, the dream state, & deep, dreamless sleep. When we pass through the sheath of maya, or illusion, (the cresent shape), we reach the state of union (the dot) with Brahma.
