Ganesha is presented as a short fat man with a
protuberant belly, four hands, the head of an elephant and one tusk. In
one hand he holds a shell, in another a discus, in the third a club or
goad and in the fourth a water-lily. He lost his tusk when Parasurama
threw his axe at Ganesha, and Ganesha received it with all
humility. Ganesha is the remover of obstacles along your
spiritual journey, and is addressed before any important undertaking.
He is the son of Parvati and Siva, and the bestower of wisdom and
success. He represents strength and fortitude. Ganesha has a human body
and the head of an elephant. He has big ears to hear your prayers, and
a small mouth meaning he does not talk too much or gossip.
This large polystone Ganesha is a lovely addition to
your altar. His delightful pose as he reclines on his settee brings joy
to our hearts!
The mantra for meditating on Ganesha is Om Sri Maha
Ganapataye Namah.
