Tulsi is the Holy Basil plant. These beads help to balance vata and kapha doshas. Tulsi clears the brain, giving serenity and composure and increases wisdom and devotion.  It helps with concentration. Its bacterial properties is said to improve one’s health. Tulsi malas are often worn by those who worship Rama, or Krishna, incarnations of Vishnu, the Preserver.

The rough Tulsi mala seem to be more of a hand carved bead, where as the smooth seems to be made from a machine. Both are individually knotted, and pull smoothly over your finger during meditation.
