SOYA RYT200® Overview

The SOYA RYT200® hour Program is offered as an Intensive 2 Week Retreat. The daily sessions include detailed Hatha Yoga instruction and practice in various styles such as Ashtanga, Sivananda, Flow and Yin. Morning and evening meditation, kirtan, and pranayama will deepen your personal practice.
Written assignments will cover:

  • The Bhagavad Gita
  • The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali
  • The Chakras and Meditation
  • The Kriyas and Basic Pranayama
  • Asanas, Benefits, Cautions and Basic Modifications
  • Pranayama
  • Professionalism
  • Sanskrit Pronounciation
  • Creating Beginner Lesson Plans

Group review and discussion will shed light on these written assignments. To pull it all together you will learn how to design a series of 6 Yoga Lesson Plans. This is a very detailed assignment covering benefits, precautions and modifications for asanas and pranayama, as well as meditation techniques and visualizations. Upon completion there is a written exam and practical exam.

Homework (To be completed prior to retreat)

There are homework assignments for you to do before arriving at the Retreat. These include:

1) Lessons in the Bhagavad Gita, Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, Chakras, Kriyas, Meditation, Pranayama and Professionalism. Lessons and texts will be sent to you upon registration.

2) You will attend 30 hours of practical asana work with one of our Primary Faculty or our soya facultyIndependent SOYA Faculty. We will help you to arrange this. You will pay the fees for these classes directly to the source of instruction.

3) If you have not already taken a course in Anatomy and Physiology you will need one. A great course can be found at www.ed2go.com for approximately $150. This will cover the systems of the body in six weeks.

4) You will need current certification in Emergency First Aid and CPR.

If Anatomy and Physiology, First Aid/ CPR and 30 hours of instruction with Faculty are not completed prior to the retreat, your SOYA RYT200® certificate will be given upon there completion of them.

It is encouraged that you register at least 2 months in advance of each Intensive Retreat to ensure completion of all homework assignments.

All About 200 Hour Intensive Retreats and Curriculum/Schedule

Program Cost: $2500.00 plus taxes.

Program fees include 2 weeks of Instruction, required Texts, Teacher Training Manual, SOYA Teacher Directory listing, Practical and Written Exams.

Program Cost does not include:
Accommodation or meals, but we will have billeting available if required. The Penticton Retreat does have lovely accommodations available for $25 per night in a luxury home near Skaha Lake!
The 30 hours of instruction with Faculty orsoya faculty Independent SOYA Faculty (RYT), Anatomy & Physiology, First Aid and CPR. These costs are additional and paid by you directly to the source of instruction.
