SOYA Yoga Teacher Training RYT300® Hour Intensive Upgrade Program

The SOYA RYT300® Hour Upgrade is offered either in an Extended Program at one of our Teacher Training locations, or as an Intensive Retreat. The format varies from location to location, but the content remains the same.

We welcome RYT200® Teachers from other schools into the SOYA RYT300® Hour Upgrade. We only require a clear understanding of previous studies to ensure all our material is covered by the end of your RYT500® training. Please submit an overview of the training you have completed to date and a copy of your 200 Hour Certificate from the school you trained from. This will help us to determine any additional lessons that you will be required to complete.

The RYT300® Upgrade will continue to deepen your understanding of Yoga as it builds on all of the RYT200® material. For the Upgrade to RYT500®, you will have written assignments and practical work to complete month by month. As well, you need to attend a certain number of hours in Hatha Yoga classes or workshops for Teachers and Teachers in Training, with soya facultyIndependent SOYA Faculty.

The SOYA RYT300® hour Upgrade Intensive Retreat.

This is an exciting format for learning in a group environment! Daily sessions include detailed Hatha Yoga instruction and practice in various styles such as Ashtanga, Sivananda, Flow and Yin. Morning and evening meditation, kirtan, and pranayama will deepen your personal practice!
You will complete written assignments covering:

  • The Hatha Yoga Pradipika
  • The Upanishads
  • Deepening Knowledge of Chakras
  • Understanding Koshas, Mudras, and Vayus
  • Asanas at Intermediate level with Modifications
  • Anatomy and Asana
  • Deepening Meditation and Pranayama Techniques
  • Understanding Karma and Reincarnation
  • Sanskrit Writing and Leading Kirtan
  • Creating Intermediate Level Lesson Plans
  • Specialized Yoga Research Project

Group review and discussion will shed light on these written assignments. To pull it all together you will learn how to design a series of 6 Intermediate level Yoga Lesson Plans. This is a very detailed assignment covering benefits, precautions and modifications for asanas and pranayama, as well as meditation techniques and visualizations. Upon completion there is a written exam and practical exam.

Homework (To be completed prior to retreat) NOTE: It is presumed you would have already studied the Bhagavad Gita and the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali in your RYT200 hour program. If not, you may be required to review these in order to fulfill the full SOYA RYT500 hour requirements.

There are homework assignments for you to do before arriving at the Retreat. These include:
1) Lessons in the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, the Upanishads, Koshas, Mudras, Traditional Pranayama, Karma and Reincarnation, and Professionalism. Lessons and texts will be sent to you upon registration.

2) You will attend 36 hours of practical asana work with our Primary Faculty or our soya facultyIndependent SOYA Faculty. We will help you to arrange this. You will pay the fees for these classes directly to the source of instruction.

3) You will need current certification in Emergency First Aid and CPR.

4) We assume as an RYT200 that you have taken a course in Anatomy and Physiology. If not, you will need one. A great course can be found at www.ed2go.com for approximately $150. This will cover the systems of the body in six weeks.

If Anatomy and Physiology, First Aid/ CPR and 36 hours of instruction with Faculty are not completed prior to the retreat, your SOYA RYT500® certificate will be given upon completion of them.
